Tasting Notes

90
Vinous Neal Martin - 01 Jan 19
The 1996 Brane-Cantenac was picked from September 24 to October 7 at 43hl/ha. It has an archetypal bouquet from this era, a mixture of red and black fruit, tobacco, tar and mint, becoming more accentuated with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannin, and quite open compared to its fellow 1996 Left Bank. Tobacco, tea leaf and singed leather notes define what feels like an assured, harmonious finish. Drink this now and over the next decade. Tasted at the Brane-Cantenac vertical at the château.
